Fall Harvest Wraps Up and Winter Market Begins

November is here and that means it's the first official week of our winter market!  This is a new option that we are experimenting with this year that will allow us to continue providing people with storage vegetables throughout the winter months.

How does it work?  During the winter, we send out a farm newsletter on the first Wednesday of every month, and each newsletter will include an order form showing all of the items we have available.  Orders placed by Thursday at midnight will be ready for pick up on Saturday morning at our home between 9:00am and 12:00pm.  More details are in our newsletter, so if you are in the Saskatoon area and this interests you, sign up here

Fall clean up has been much more pleasant this year since October was snow free for the most part. Over the last few weeks, the trellises have been disassembled and the irrigation systems have been rolled up for the winter. There are still a few more outdoor tasks to get to this week but that will depend on what the weather allows.

Our last greens of the season were harvested this week and will be available to order through our winter market this Saturday.  The low tunnels made a big difference in keeping these crops going through some pretty low night time temperatures.  It was fun to push the limits with this relatively simple season extension method and they will certainly be back in action as soon as the snow thaws in spring.
